First Mortgage and Community Infrastructure program
The First Mortgage and Community Infrastructure program (FMCIP) aims to strengthen the economic capacity and sustainability of Aboriginal organisations to move towards self-determination.
Under this staged program, eligible Victorian Aboriginal organisations who own property over which the Minister for Aboriginal Affairs holds a first mortgage may apply to have the mortgage removed.
In its first stage, FMCIP invites eligible Aboriginal organisations to apply to a contested grant program for funding of up to $50,000 (plus GST) to undertake activities that will support their application for removal of the first mortgage. The FMCIP grant program has two categories:
If you wish to apply to both grant programs your applications must be made sequentially. If your application for Urgent Repairs and Maintenance is successful you must fully acquit your grant before approval may be given for a First Mortgage Initiative Grant.
