The Victorian School Holidays will start on 22 December - are you ready to entertain your children? Below are a range of activities you might consider to entertain them with over the summer school holiday period.

Arts Centre Melbourne - Kids and Families

Giggle and Hoot & Friends - Presented by Live Nation in association with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Jimmy Giggle, Hoot and Hootabelle are setting off on a giggle-icious live stage adventure with their friends the Bananas in Pyjamas and Hoopla Doopla’s Zap, Mimi and Jango this summer! 17-21 December 2014.

The Tiger Who Came To Tea - Based on Judith Kerr’s best-selling book. Hold onto your biscuits! The tea-guzzling Tiger roars into Melbourne this summer in this mischievous musical play brought to you by the team behind We’re Going on a Bear Hunt. 2-18 January 2015.



Arts, Crafts and Mixed

a3 - australian arts alive - Looking for something exciting to do these holidays? Join a3 - australian arts alive at our holiday programs for a fun and fresh approach to the performing arts.

ArtPlay - The ArtPlay schools program offers a range of workshops covering a variety of art-forms for you and your students to explore.

Australian Tapestry Workshop - In this workshop children will do a short tour of the Workshop and watch the weavers at work then learn the art of hand weaving on their own mini loom. They will make a colourful tapestry to take home using the same yarn we use in the Workshop. Children can take their loom and some yarn home to keep making tapestries. Includes tuition by weaver and materials to take home. Thursday 15 January 2015- two sessions, $25 per child.

Bindu Creative Dance - Creative movement/art sessions for primary school aged kids.

Blanc Canvas Studios - range of art lessons and classes for children aged 4 and up.

Box Hill Community School Holiday Program - Have fun at any age and ability with the fantastic range of art activities that will keep everyone creatively entertained during the April school holidays. The Box Hill Community Arts Centre's range of programs are tailored for children, teenagers and family activities.

Bubble Dome Workshops - Learn skills in a range of the latest Technology and computer workshops across Melbourne. Workshops include Robotics, Minecraft, Girlcraft, Coding, App and Web Design and Looming for 5-18 years. Various locations include Brighton Grammar, Kingswood Coolege and Tintern Grammar.

Club Engineer - Build and program robots with Lego Mindstorms, Write then play your own computer games. Club Engineer teaches tech-savvy kids, teens and young adults engineering principles through robotics and game programming. Our junior program is for students from year five to year seven and prepares them for entering the Robocup Rescue competition. Our middle and senior school programs are for students from year eight and beyond and teaches game programming using a variety of commercial languages and tools. All our course-ware is available online for free for those who can not make it to a face-to-face session.

Creation Music Education - Inspiring Young People to find their Voice! - Melbourne's Premier Music Education company, Creation Music Education, is offering another series of Children's Song Recording & Confidence Building Workshops for July School Holidays Fun! Open to ages 4 to 13 years who love music, songs and singing.

Gasworks - Kids Holiday Program - Gasworks’ kids programs offer creative and entertaining experiences for children aged 4 to 14 both during and outside School Holidays. Bringing together a range of energetic artists and performers who specialise in working with kids, our workshops, performances and classes are imaginative, engaging and fun!

GlazeIt Studio - Pottery Painting at GlazeIt Studio is a unique, fun and creative activity for all ages and occasions, which involves decorating ready-to-paint ceramics into beautiful and usable pottery pieces.

Kraftworks for Kids - a fun craft-based school holiday program for kids aged 8 through 14. Our activities include: Figurine Painting, Jewellery Making, Plasterkraft, Scale Modelling, and Stitchery. All activities encourage patience, persistence, and practical skills.

Music Theatre Boot Camp - Music Theatre Boot Camp is a school holiday empowerment program utilising the magic and beauty of theatre, music and dance to assist children explore their creativity and hidden (or well known) talents. In this 5 day program school-aged children learn a song and dance from a well known musical, as well as learn about stage craft and play lots of fun games to open up and liberate their voices and bodies. The children are with us at various locations around Melbourne between 9:30-3:00, and then perform what they've learned on the Friday for their personal onlookers!

Music Works Magic - Fun for all during the school holidays.

Performing Camps of Australia - Workshop based in Melbourne. Classes in Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip Hop, Musical Theatre & Technique 7 hours of dancing, with qualified and very experience teachers.

PrimeSCI! School Holiday Program - Attention young scientists! It's time for eggstraordinary eggsperiments and to learn about science in the kitchen!

Robotics Club Spring Holiday Program - Junior programs such as electronics and modular robotics. Middle school holiday programs include Vex IQ robot camps and Lego Mindstorms EV3 Camps with different challenges. Teen robotics camps provides and exclusive visit to Autodesk.

Technology camps - A variety of technology driven holiday programs for kids and teens. Our robotics and technology modules promote a STEM education with all the holiday fun with the Young Explorer. Young Inventor and Young Innovator.

Thread Den - During the school holidays, Thread Den offers a great range of sewing classes for kids aged 6 years and up. Develop skills with textiles, add to your folio, or just make something completely unique. Classes are run in Thread Den's light filled sewing lounges and are led by industry professionals and friendly instructors.

Tree Sparrow Treasures - Jewellery making workshops, workshops are aimed at 5+ age group and 10+ age group.

Wyreena Community Arts Centre - Wyreena Community Arts Centre offers a School Holiday Program several times throughout the year.

Ladro Kids Pizza Making Classes - Famous for their stellar pizza offering, Ladro will teach kids how to make the pizza base dough, roll it out and top it with some delicious and wholesome ingredients.

Geelong Gallery - The Gallery offers a range of fun, family-friendly art adventures and workshops each school holiday.

Heide Museum of Modern Art - Kids Activities - Discover fun ways to explore the exhibitions and gardens at Heide with these FREE printable activities designed especially for kids.

National Gallery of Victoria - Kids and their families are invited to take part in two fun and interactive exhibitions currently showing at the National Gallery of Victoria. At NGV International visit the vibrantly designed and interactive Express Yourself: Romance Was Born for Kids exhibition. Make a colourful and bejewelled mask or beard and play in the digital billabong. Across the road at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia kids are encourage to use their creativity with letters and words at Emily Floyd: The Dawn for Kids. Make sculptures using block letters or visit the Small Press to make your own short-run publication.

NGV Schools Programs - NGV Schools Programs are educational sessions for students and teachers in the Gallery that are led by an Educator. We advise groups (led or self-staffed) to book well in advance to reduce waiting times and ensure access.

City of Melbourne Junior Rangers. Join the City of Melbourne Park Rangers in Melbourne's beautiful and historic parks and gardens for summer fun and adventure. Suitable for children aged 5 - 12 years, this environmental program incorporates art and craft, guided walks and story telling.

Collingwood Children's Farm - Open every day of the year.

Cooks' Cottage - How does YOUR garden grow? Come and visit Cooks Cottage during the spring school holidays and enjoy innovative activities where children can learn and have fun at the same time. The How Does YOUR Garden Grow? holiday program includes a fun workshop session where kids make their very own grass buddy.

Marine Discovery Centre - The Marine Discovery Centre conducts special programs for adults and children throughout the year during school holidays and on weekends. These programs aim to provide people with the opportunity to experience the wonders of the marine environment.
