We resolve complaints about healthcare and the handling of health information in Victoria. We can also investigate matters and review complaints data to help health service providers improve the quality of their service. We act independently and impartially.
The Ombudsman's role is to take complaints about state government departments and agencies, local councils and statutory authorities. Complaints may concern administrative error, poor decision-making, failure to follow policies or procedures, or breaches of the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006. The Ombudsman also investigates protected disclosure complaints.
