Regional Development Victoria

Regional Development Victoria (RDV) is the Victorian Government's lead agency in developing regional and rural Victoria. Our roles includes: facilitating new investment, businesses growth and job creation, infrastructure development, the co-ordinated delivery of government programs, services and resources in rural and regional Victoria, including the implementation of the Regional Growth Fund, facilitating consultation between the public and private sector and communities about economic and community development in rural and regional Victoria, promoting regional and rural Victoria, advising the Minister about matters relating to development in regional and rural Victoria, and supporting communities affected by the 2009 fires through the Fire Recovery Unit.

BranchesFire Recovery Unit1800 055 714The Fire Recovery Unit (FRU) within Regional Development Victoria was established in July 2011, following the closure of the Victorian Bushfire Reconstruction and Recovery Authority. The FRU plays an important role in assisting the ongoing recovery of bushfire-affected communities by facilitating strong relationships and coordinated responses to ongoing community needs. BranchesInfrastructure03 9452 5262RDV's Infrastructure Group supports the development of modern, high quality infrastructure to create more liveable, productive and sustainable communities for regional and rural Victorians. The group is also responsible for providing strategic policy advice on infrastructure from a regional perspective. The Infrastructure group administers grant funding which provides the building blocks of economic and community development, from the energy, water and transport infrastructure required for industry to flourish, to the creation of new tourism and cultural facilities to boost jobs and liveability in regional and rural Victoria.
BranchesMarketing and Promotion Group03 9452 5256The RDV Marketing and Promotion group is responsible for two significant activities of interest to agencies with a presence in regional and rural Victoria. 1. The 2012 Regional Victoria Living Expo will run for three days from 27-29 April, 2012 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. The Expo will promote everything that is great about living and working in regional and rural Victoria to a Melbourne audience. Event exhibitors will include regional and rural councils, education providers and employers who will provide detailed information for those thinking of moving to regional and rural Victoria. 2. RDV is will also be delivering a new marketing campaign to attract population and skills to regional and rural Victoria by positioning the regions as a place of unique opportunities, new prosperity and a better quality of life. The first phase of the campaign will commence in April 2012.
BranchesPolicy03 9452 5273The Policy Group is responsible for providing policy and strategic leadership to RDV, coordinating across RDV and with other departments to develop ideas, knowledge, policies and programs to support the Victorian Government's commitment to regional Victoria. The Policy Group is also responsible for: 1. overseeing the implementation, delivery and evaluation of the Regional Growth Fund and other programs, 2. delivering research and analysis to support regional policy and, 3. managing strategic relationships across and outside Government.
