The Department of Transport (DOT) provides support to two ministers and their portfolio areas, the Minister for Public Transport and Minister for Roads, and the Minister for Ports. Our mission is to build a safer, fairer and greener transport system for all Victorians - creating a more prosperous and connected community.

The division works closely with other parts of the department, across government and with councils, external stakeholders and community groups to achieve this.
DivisionsRegional Rail Link Authority1800 107 925The Regional Rail Link Authority (RRLA) was established in 2010 to oversee the Regional Rail Link project. Regional Rail Link is a major new rail line running from West Werribee to Deer Park and along the existing rail corridor through suburbs including Sunshine and Footscray to Southern Cross Station. Regional Rail Link separates regional trains from metropolitan trains: for the first time giving Geelong, Bendigo and Ballarat trains their own dedicated tracks through the metropolitan system from Sunshine to Southern Cross Station.
DivisionsSecurity and Emergency Management03 9095 4065The Security and Emergency Management Division (SEMD) is responsible for promoting and driving organisational preparedness for high-impact security risks and emergencies within the critical infrastructure sectors of public transport, the road and rail system and ports and marine environments, including marine pollution. SEMD has the responsibility to manage the DOT Business Continuity Management (BCM) program, which enhances the department's ability to prepare for, respond to and recover from an event which disrupts business operations. The division provides strategic advice to government and coordinates across various sectors, in order to ensure sufficient capacity and preparedness to respond in emergency situations.
DivisionsSystems and Information Services03 8688 1835Systems and Information Services (SISD) supports DOT through the provision of expert advice with respect to information, communications and transport control systems. This includes the development of strategic plans for DOT business systems as well as the design, development, procurement, delivery and support of business and operational control systems. The functions of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) reside in SISD.

TSV seeks the highest transport safety standards through administering bus, maritime and rail safety legislation that promotes transport safety outcomes. As part of this TSV 1) Licenses, registers and accredits operators and other industry participants. 2) Monitors the transport industry's and participants' systems for managing safety risks. 3) Monitors compliance with transport safety legislation. 4) Takes enforcement action as appropriate to promote safety outcomes in Victoria.
