2016 Youth Media Festival - Presented by the Australian Teachers Of Media (ATOM ) and The Australian Centre for the Moving Image (ACMI ) on 2 July at ACMI, Melbourne, the Youth Media Festival is for young content makers and students working in film, TV, radio, games and online spheres. Programmed in collaboration with prominent Melbourne youth media organisations Youthworx Media, Syn Media, RMITV and ACMI’s Intermix program, this one day event will be a festival of ideas and collaboration between students and young content makers from all over Australia.

Magic and fun for the whole family. 27 June – 9 July at 12 noon, Northcote Town Hall.The Owl’s Apprentice - A shadow puppet show about a young owl who is learning to become wise. He is sent to Owl school, but on the way he meets lots of different animals who teach him lots of different aspects of wisdom. Owls aren't born wise, they have to learn if from somewhere! The show uses a combination of shadow puppetry, hand puppetry and storytelling. It is relevant for children aged 3 to 12. Tue 28 June

Science and Engineering
Club Engineer - Build and program robots with Lego Mindstorms, Write then play your own computer games. Club Engineer teaches tech-savvy kids, teens and young adults engineering principles through robotics and game programming. The junior program is for students from year five to year seven and prepares them for entering the Robocup Rescue competition. The middle and senior school programs are for students from year eight and beyond and teaches game programming using a variety of commercial languages and tools. All course-ware is available online for free for those who cannot make it to a face-to-face session.e2 Young Engineers – Hands-on LEGO® Challenge workshops where students build educational motorized models like amusement park rides, aircraft, transportation vehicles, cranes etc. Through the use of exciting experiments and building originally designed LEGO® bricks models that illustrate Science and Engineering topics your child will have FUN while improving creativity, concentration, visual-spatial and social skills just to name a few. Lego kits, battery, motor with visual instructions will be provided.
