The extension and expansion to the National School Chaplaincy and Student Welfare Program will begin in 2012. The program provides funding to schools to access the services of a school chaplain or secular student welfare worker.

The Performing Arts Unit (formerly JOINING the CHORUS - JtC) is an initiative of the Department. The Unit provides access for students in Victorian government schools to participate in a myriad of programs such as dance, drama, music and visual arts.
