Condolences and Messages

Provides condolences and messages received from people around the world.

I just wanted to say how deeply upset i was at this dreadful tragedy and wanted to say here in the uk, we are thinking about those who have been killed, injured and made homeless. I only pray the person or persons responsible for this senseless act are found and dealt with. I would also say god bless all your emergency crews for an unbelievably hard and dangerous jobs there doing. I had to write this email to say the world is mourning for Australia's sad loss.

I just wanted to express my deepest and most sincere condolences on the tragic loss of lives in the bush fires. The thought that some of the fires may have been the work of arsonists beggars belief. The loss of property though distressing bears no comparison with the loss of lives, having spent a month in Australia not so long ago I know that the resilient spirit of the Australian people will grieve their losses then rebuild. God Bless you and aid you all in your endeavours, and comfort you in your grief.

My wife and I put together a poem for all those missing relatives and friends etc.. hope it helps
Missing in Australia
Our hands reach out to comfort those
Who lost someone so dear
Not just this week but recently
When the news made it so clear
We hold you dear in all our hearts
We give you strength and love
You have good friends around you
And others from above
May all our thoughts and messages
Help you at this time
We think of you, always friends
The hurt is yours and mine
May we all come to understand
Something from this week
And may we get some comfort from whatever 'tis we seek.
God Bless

Our deepest sympathies come to you for the people and land lost to the bush fires. It had always been a dream of mine to visit your country. As of now it may never happen due to economic times. However, my bad times don't begin to compare to what many of your citizens are dealing with. God Bless Australia

I'm shocked and saddened by the news that forest fires had killed so many citizens in Victoria. I had come to respect the wonderful people of Victoria during the few months I spent there as temporary medical practitioner visiting your beautiful country from South Africa. I could never have imagened that the magnificent forests of Victoria could so unpredictably and rapidly turn against man. I am not a man of many means but if you could supply me with the banking details of the Forest Fire Relief Fund I could in my small way contribute to try and lighten the burden of the homeless and the needy, as I was helped in my time of need. Please accept our family's sincerest of sympathies in this time of sadness and loss.

So very sorry for you all at this time. You are all in our prayers and thoughts even though we are thousands of miles away. Your great country will show the world how you will bind together in solidarity. Again to all Australians we wish you rest and peace.

I cannot be the only one from England to express my heartfelt sorrow for the devastation caused by these fires and especially for the people of Victoria who are suffering such terrible losses. Like many families from England, we have relatives in Australia and whilst they are remote from this tragedy, we nevertheless feel at one with your people. There is nothing of any substance that can be said nor any word of consolation for those who have lost loved ones, but we wanted you to know that our thoughts are with you at this time. You have a great country and will survive this tragedy.

I just wanted to say that even far away in the U.K., our thoughts and prayers are with all the poor victims of your fires. I have today contributed to your Red Cross Appeal but am so far away, I feel very helpless. I have holidayed in your lovely country many times and your people have always made me so welcome. Just wanted to let you know that us "Poms" are thinking of you all.

My family and I are so sorry about the terrible fires that swept across Victoria killing so many of your people and destroying so much property. We are very sorry and hope that the troubles may be faced with Australian courage and sense of duty. Best wishes

Premier, a note to express our horror, shock and sympathy to you and all the residents of Victoria as to the terrible tragedy which you are all going through. As a resident of Los Angeles, we are all to familiar with the devastation and horror of fires and the helplessness that one feels for the families and friends who are effected. To look at the mayhem that was once there home, life and happiness and see ash, burnt possessions and the ruins of one life is all too much, the loss of life of people who were taken away seems all too much. But life goes on and lives will be rebuilt. I just want to tell you that our thoughts are with you, if you would like me to start a program for donations to the victims as an expat, I am at your service. Please let me know if I can help in any way

As visitors to Australia and your region from the UK, we would like to express our condolences to the families of those who have suffered loss in the recent bush fires. We are thinking of you at this time.

Hello I have made a small donation to the bushfires appeal (I am not working at the moment so cannot afford much. I have donated as much as I can afford - I hope that is ok). I am wondering if you would like clothing parcels sent over to you for distribution? I don't want to do something that isn't wanted or helpful but if this would help, I would gladly do so. My thoughts are with those affected and the brave emergency services. Best wishes to you all.

I would like to express my deep sadness and sympathy to all the victims of the bushfires which is undoubtly the worst ever. I suggest that the government declares national mourning over the victims. Regards.

Hello I was a victim of the ACT fires in 2003. I lost my house and spent 2 years dealing with the trauma. I did not lose family or friends, however, if I can be of any assistance to the victims as someone who can listen, talk and appreciate (to a certain degree) the pain they are experiencing. The emotions will change and the wounds will take a long time to heal. All the best to Victoria Regard

As a former resident of San Diego, California my heart goes out to the people of your state. Although I have was not personally effected by our own fire storms I know people who have lost everything. What I see moves me to tears, and my finance who was driven from her home in New Orleans due to Hurricane Katrina and DID loose everything well remembers the out pouring of the hearts and wallets of your people. We wish we could do more then offer condolences, but for whats its worth here they are. Our people have suffered much together. I remember who really stopped the Japanese Advance in WW2 (I offer a toast to those "Ragged bloody heroes of that grim Kokoda Track" every April 25) and personally remember how Australia offered her most precious asset after 9/11..the blood of her own sons and daughters. For which this American will be forever greatfull. My prayers and that of my family are with you, and who should we send the money to..least we can do is help in the rebuilding. God Bless you all.
