The Victorian Government's permanent water saving (or use) rules are a set of common-sense rules to reduce demand and make sure we use water efficiently.
DELWP manages Victoria's water resources in partnership with a network of government agencies and water authorities. We manage groundwater, catchments and waterways, infrastructure, water saving and re-use projects, flood management, governance and water legislation. Our expertise ranges from river hydrology and environmental science to water engineering, planning and specialist industry technologies.
Water restrictions are managed by Victoria's urban water corporations and are applied across Victoria based on the Uniform Drought Water Restriction Guidelines. There are various stages of restriction - Stage 1 (mild) to Stage 4 (severe).
