A Bollard of a Life Returns
The Baywalk Bollards tell a story of the people and events associated with Geelong throughout its history, and are perhaps the most iconic images of this city and certainly a major tourism drawcard.
The painted wooden sculpted figures represent a whole spectrum of local characters from indigenous inhabitants and explorers to opera singers and lifesavers.
This exhibition focuses on a selection of bollards from within the 111-strong collection, examining their significance to the city and the process involved in their creation.
A Bollard of a Life! looks at the inspired talent of Baywalk Bollard's creator, artist Jan Mitchell, and her many other highly acclaimed artistic pursuits.
This exhibition has been created by the Director of museum exhibition company Thylacine, Caolan Mitchell, the late Jan Mitchell's son, in conjunction with the National Wool Museum.
