City Museum, in the historic Old Treasury Building, is proud to present Batmania: our founding fathers?
Batmania asks the hard questions. What were the events that led to our foundation? Who is our founding father? And why does it matter so much?
Batmania combines contemporary art with historical artefacts. Treasured artworks and rare manuscripts from the State Library of Victoria's collection, some of the earliest and most important documents relating to the European settlement of Victoria, are on display.
For the first time, Melbourne's foundation history, and the myths surrounding it, comes under the spotlight.
