2012 Richard Searby Oration

The annual Richard Searby Oration marks the contribution made by Dr Richard Searby AO QC as Chancellor of Deakin University from 1997 to 2005.

The 2012 Richard Searby Oration will be delivered by Dr Guy Debelle, Assistant Governor (Financial Markets) of the Reserve Bank of Australia and is entitled:
Credo et Fido: Credit and Trust.

The Oration will explore the importance of credit and trust within the financial system.

Dr Guy Debelle is the Assistant Governor (Financial Markets) at the Reserve Bank of Australia, a position he has held since March 2007. He joined the Reserve Bank in 1994 and has also worked at the International Monetary Fund, Bank for International Settlements, Australian Treasury and as a visiting professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He graduated from the University of Adelaide with a degree in economics (honours), and holds PhD in economics at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
