Let’s make sure our children don’t have to sit around this table in 10 years’ time having the same conversations! Let’s make sure we get it right this time. Let’s make sure there is long term investment in services and programs that we know work in our communities. And let’s make sure it’s Aboriginal people leading the changes we need across the whole system.
The reforms happening now in family violence are a once in a generation opportunity to effect real change. We as a community cannot afford to see another generation of our people suffering from the impacts of family violence. Our families and communities need to heal from transgenerational violence in all its forms. We need government policy makers and funders to recognise and value the importance and power of connection to culture in preventing and addressing family and community violence.
