The Department of Veterans' Affairs provides support and services to Australian war veterans and their widows, widowers and dependants through pensions, health and housing programs. It supports the Australian Defence Force through the Military Rehabilitation and Compensation Service, the Transition Management Initiative, ADF Health Studies and the Defence Service Homes Scheme. It is also responsible for commemorations including national days of remembrance and war memorials.
