CHILDREN’S BOOKS

Reading is one of the most important ways to support your child's literacy skills.

Why not choose a book together and find a comfy place to relax and read?

Ask your child what they see on the page or ask,

[Father]

I wonder what happens next.

FINGER PUPPETS

Storytelling and role play is an important part of how children make sense of the world and themselves, and can help children master language.

Use the finger puppets to create characters and stories. Dramatic play is also a great way

to explore emotions and learn ways they can manage different emotions.

bang it, pound it, squish it. Talk about what you're making.

CRAYONS AND ACTIVITY PAD

Crayons can help your child develop their hand-eye coordination and creativity. They can teach them about shapes and colours.

Use the art activity pad or even a blank paper to prompt ideas. Talk as you draw

and ask them to describe their pictures.

CHALKBOARD

Use the chalkboard to create a world from your imagination. Find a comfortable place inside or outside and use the chalk to draw what you see around you.

THREADING ANIMALS

The threading animals are a great way to help your child build their fine motor muscles in their hands and fingers. This is important for children's self-care and for later writing.

Guide your child in how to thread the lace through the holes of the animal.

SHAPE SHAKERS

SEEDS

Planting seeds allows children to see the wonder of the natural world.

Talk about plants and name their parts. Plant them together, water them and check their growth each morning, and make some food with your harvest.

Remember, play based learning is one of the most important ways to support children to develop the skills and understanding they need to live well now and into the future.
