Getting Ready

The NDIS is being rolled out progressively in Victoria over a three-year period between July 2016 and by 2019 105,000 people are expected to become participants of the NDIS.

Step 2

  • Learn whether you might be able to access the NDIS. Complete the access checklist on the NDIS website.
  • Think about your life now, your current informal and formal supports, and what is working and what might need to change. Visit the NDIS website to learn about reasonable and necessary supports.
  • Identify your strengths, interests, challenges and consider your goals or what you might want to achieve. Read about the types of services and supports the NDIS can provide.
  • Write these things down and collect any reports, assessments or information you might find helpful for when the NDIS comes to you.

NDIS Readiness

16 organisations will share in $10 million in funding to deliver NDIS readiness activities. These organisations will work throughout Victoria to identify and deliver practical and targeted resources to help people and providers adapt to the way the NDIS will work.

Barwon

The NDIS is available in the Barwon area.

The Barwon area covers the local government areas of

A trial of the NDIS operated in the Barwon area from 1 July 2013 to 1 July 2016 and overall the results were very positive.

Central Highlands

The NDIS is now available in the Central Highlands area as of 1 January 2017.
