2009 Statement of Government Intentions
The 2009 Statement of Government Intentions (the Statement) articulates the Government's ambitious program of action and delivery for the year.
It highlights the major legislative proposals to be brought before Parliament, along with the major reforms flowing from the agreements reached at the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) meeting in late 2008.
The Statement catalogues the action planned around major infrastructure investments in areas such as transport and water. It also catalogues the measures being taken to deliver the comprehensive set of policies and plans released in 2008.
The 2009 program of work will address key challenges facing Victorians, such as the global financial crisis, population growth, alcohol-fuelled violence and the need to respond to climate change.
