Stage 3a Water Restrictions

Stage 3a water restrictions still apply in Melbourne.

Under Stage 3a water restrictions you can:

  • Use a manual dripper system, hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, or a watering can and a bucket to water gardens as required on specified watering days between 6am - 8am*.

  • Use an automatic dripper system as required on specific watering days between midnight - 2am*.

  • Wash your car at a commercial car wash that uses 70 litres of water per vehicle.

  • Use a bucket filled from a tap to clean car windows, mirrors and lights; and spot-remove corrosive substances.

Households with at least one resident aged 70 years or over may water their gardens manually on specified watering days between 6am - 8am or 8am - 10am.

Also under Stage 3a, one in four sports grounds nominated by your local council can be watered.

A new pool or spa of any size capacity cannot be filled. Before filling an existing pool or spa consult your water authority.
