Bring students to Trade & Tech Fit

Broaden your school’s female and gender diverse students’ study and career possibilities by bringing a group to the Trade & Tech Fit career expo. 

This expo is 100% hands-on, allowing students to design video games, lay bricks, weld, fly planes, program a robot, safety test equipment, use power tools, learn to paint and more while understanding more about the range of career options available to women and gender diverse people.

There are no fees charged for exhibiting. 

Exhibitor spaces are filling fast. After the expo reaches capacity, additional exhibitor registrations will be added to a waitlist.

What to expect 

Hosted by the Department of Education, Trade & Tech Fit is a career expo for female and gender diverse secondary school students that showcases exciting careers in traditionally male-dominated industries. 

The Trade & Tech Fit career expo provides a safe and equitable space where students engage with tradies, apprentices and industry professionals, providing insight into the breadth of career pathways where female and gender diverse people are underrepresented.  

In 2023, 2493 female and gender diverse students attended the expo. More than 120 schools brought students to experience interactive activities from 85 exhibitors across a huge range of industries, including:  

  • building, construction & engineering 
  • refrigeration, electrical & plumbing 
  • automotive, marine, aviation & aerospace 
  • solar & wind clean energy 
  • foundry and mining 
  • transport and logistics 
  • agriculture & horticulture  
  • gaming, cloud & robotics 
  • civil assets management & infrastructure 
  • defence, essential services & fire protection. 

After attending 2023 expo:  

  • 46% of students said they would consider a career in trades and 51% have become interested in trades and tech careers due to attending the expo 
  • 95% of the teachers expressed they are more inclined to recommend trades and tech pathways to their female and gender diverse students in the future.
