The Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC) recommends agencies or bodies adopt the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework (VPDSF) Five Step Action Plan (depicted below) when scoping and implementing digital initiatives or programs.

In support of this Action Plan, the Digital Engagement team within DPC will produce updated 'how-to' guidance reflecting this approach, emphasising the need for organisations to properly identify what information will be used in the proposed initiative or program, analyse the value of this material, assess any risks to this information and implement commensurate security measures to protect the information across its life cycle.

OVIC will issue additional guidance in the coming months. In the meantime, please refer to the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner website for guidance.
