About the LGBTI Taskforce
An Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Gender Diverse and Intersex (LGBTI) Taskforce was established in 2015 to provide advice to the Minister for Equality. The role of the Taskforce is also to identify government priorities and ensure policy, programs and services are inclusive of LGBTI communities.
Members are appointed for a term of two years. On 11 January 2018 the Minister for Equality announced the membership of the current taskforce. Read the media release.
Brenda Appleton, a leading activist for the trans and gender-diverse communities, returns to co-chair the Taskforce with Minister Foley. The other community members are:
- Anna Brown - Director of Advocacy and Strategic Litigation, Human Rights Law Centre, Co-Chair Equality Campaign
- Aram Hosie - renowned LGBTI advocate with expertise in transgender rights, community health and drug reform
- Gregory Phillips - leading Aboriginal health expert with experience in advocating for queer Aboriginal communities
- Jamie Gardiner - long-time human rights activist, former member of the Equal Opportunity and Human Rights Commission, Vice-President of Liberty Victoria and board member of the Human Rights Law Centre
- Dr Ruth McNair - General Practitioner and Honorary Associate Professor, Department of General Practice, University of Melbourne
- Deputy Secretaries from the Departments of Premier and Cabinet, Justice and Regulation, Education and Training and Health and Human Services (ex-officio)

Taskforce Working Groups
The LGBTI Taskforce is supported by two working groups.
The Health and Human Services Working Group advises the taskforce on issues relating to ageing and aged care, alcohol and drugs, child and family services, disability services, families, health services, housing, homelessness, mental health, multicultural issues, public health and health promotion, and youth justice.
The Health and Human Services Working Group is co-chaired by Gabrielle Williams MP and Ruth McNair. In this term the community members are: Jax Jacki Brown, Craig Comrie, Keri Alexander, Karen Field, Rebecca Dominguez, Maria Pallotta-Chiarolli, Simon Ruth, Jacqui Tomlins, Asiel Adan Sanchez, Tori Berquist, Minto Felix and Jeremy Wiggins.

The Justice Working Group advises the taskforce on issues relating to civil law, criminal law, youth justice, safer communities, policing and corrections.
The Justice Working Group is co-chaired by Harriet Shing MP and Anna Brown. In this term the community members are: Liana Buchanan, Paul Kidd, Felicity Marlowe, Janet Jukes, Elizabeth Bennett, Lee Carnie, Aimee Cooper, Maree Foelz, Kochava Lilit, Mill O’Sullivan and James Roffee.

LGBTI Taskforce Community Forum
On 4 February 2017, the LGBTI Taskforce hosted a Community Forum to discuss priority issues and ideas for the future with representatives from Victoria's LGBTI communities.
