Grants Victoria is a directory of Victorian Government grants and assistance. Here you’ll find general information about grants and assistance for individuals, businesses and communities that can help you:

  • fund ideas and initiatives;
  • develop local and national solutions;
  • get assistance in times of hardship; and
  • access further information.

Victorian Government includes Departments, statutory authorities and government business enterprises.

Grants include funding programs, individual grants, fellowships and scholarships.

Assistance includes help or support in various forms for example, government concessions, such as the seniors card and the winter gas concession, goods, such as water saving rebates and shower heads, or funds,  such as the community safety fund grant, for citizens of Victoria.

    • Amor Residency at Baldessin Press & Studio
      Amor Residency at Baldessin Press & Studio

      The State Library Victoria, in partnership with the Baldessin Press, offers a special residency opportunity as part of the annual fellowship program.

      The Amor Residency at Baldessin Press & Studio is generously supported by artist Rick Amor and the Baldessin Press & Studio in St Andrews. Situated in bushland 50 km from Melbourne, the studio is named in memory of artist, printmaker and sculptor George Baldessin (1939–78), who built the bluestone studio in 1971.

      The residency is offered to a visual artist wishing to explore works on paper, in particular printmaking or artists books, using research material from the State Library.

      The Amor Residency at Baldessin Press & Studio may take place at any time within the year of the award, according to the recipient's project and research plans. The offer may include accommodation, printmaking tuition or technical support, materials or editioning to the sum of $5000.

      The recipient also has the opportunity to participate in an event to present their project to the Library, the public and other supporters.

      Applications for the 2018–19 residency are now open. Applications must be emailed by 6pm on Sunday 22 April 2018 to fellows@slv.vic.gov.au.

      Anzac Centenary Community Grant Program 2017-18 - Round 2

      The Anzac Centenary Community Grant Program offers funding to eligible organisations for projects that commemorate the service and sacrifice of World War One (WWI) veterans and their communities or inform and educate Victorians about the experiences of WWI veterans and their communities. WWI related projects could include new memorials, one off community events, local community education projects and the preservation of WWI history. The program will run over the Anzac Centenary (2014-18) and is designed to support projects up to $20,000 (excluding GST).

      Berry Family Fellowship

      The Berry Family Fellowship carries a grant of $15,000 for a project exploring an aspect of the social history of Melbourne or Victoria, based on the State Library Victoria collections.

      The fellowship is offered every second year to commemorate the contribution of the Berry family to the cultural life of Melbourne and Victoria.

    • Children's Literature Fellowship
      Children's Literature Fellowship

      The State Library offers a specialist fellowship to support applicants wanting to utilise the Library's children's book collection on a project exploring aspects of children's book publishing, writing or illustrating – early years, children and young adult fiction (0–18 years of age).

      The Library's collection has over 100,000 items, including novels, illustrated fiction, picture books, graphic novels, poetry and traditional stories.

      The fellowship carries a grant of $15,000 and is for a period of three months full time, or longer if undertaken in a part-time capacity.

      Applications for the 2018–19 fellowship are now open. Fellowship applications must be received by 6pm on Sunday 22 April 2018.

    • Creative Fellowships
      Creative Fellowships

      The Library's Creative Fellowship program provides artists and scholars with a unique and supportive environment in which to immerse themselves in our collections. We invite recipients to be inspired by, repurpose, transform or imaginatively respond to published or original sources, such as manuscripts, maps, music, newspapers, oral histories and rare printed material, in any way they choose.

      Applicants may be individuals or working in collaborative partnerships. They may include artists practising in any art form – such as the visual arts, new media, dance, musical performance or composition – and writers and scholars in any discipline or subject.

      Fellows receive a grant of $15,000 for three months' research, space in a shared office that is accessible outside normal Library hours, and special access to collections and staff expertise.

      Honorary fellowships may also be awarded. These fellows receive the same benefits as funded fellows, without the monetary grant.

      The fellowships are funded by the State Library of Victoria Foundation and other program partners, and are awarded annually on the advice of independent expert panels.

      Applications for the 2018–19 fellowship are now open. Fellowship applications must be received by 6pm on Sunday 22 April 2018. Six Creative Fellowships will be awarded.

    • Digital Fellowship
      Digital Fellowship

      The Digital Fellowship has been established as an opportunity for creative technologists and digital humanists to work collaboratively with the Library in developing new and exciting ways to discover, view, experience and use the State Library Victoria collection.

      Cultural institutions such as the State Library are treasure troves of content and data for those with the imagination and skill to realise the enormous possibilities that arise from the application of digital technologies.

      The fellowship is awarded to fund a project that delivers a practical outcome to further the Library's Digital Experience Transformation Strategy.

    • Georges Mora Fellowship
      Georges Mora Fellowship

      The Georges Mora Fellowship gives one contemporary artist the opportunity to study, experiment and explore fresh thinking in their art.
      The recipient is awarded $10,000 for up to 6 months' research and given the means and uninterrupted time to work closely with the rich resources of the State Library, including access to a private study within the Library, which can be used outside normal opening hours.
      Also, the Georges Mora Fellowship can help the fellow apply for a self-identified local or international residency, as well as provide access to organisations and individuals with specialist knowledge to support the artist to research, experiment and create.

      The fellowship is awarded with funds generously donated by arts supporters and with the support of State Library Victoria, Alliance Française de Melbourne and other partners.
