Ministers Gabrielle Williams and Natalie Hutchins joined past and current members of the Victim Survivors’ Advisory Council (VSAC) to celebrate VSAC’s fourth anniversary on Thursday 23 July.

Each VSAC member both past and present spoke about what VSAC meant to them. VSAC member Rebecca shared this reflection

'Coronavirus (COVID-19) has changed the way we interact and live life. This celebration could have very easily been skipped; however, an effort was made by all parties to acknowledge the importance of VSAC. Both Minister for the Prevention of Family Violence Gabrielle Williams and Minister for Victim Support Natalie Hutchins made time to encourage, show support, and uplift all members, past and present.

Their resounding acknowledgment was echoed by executives and staff from Family Safety Victoria. The challenges of the pandemic and Victoria’s lockdowns will not stop the passion that is inherent in VSAC. Through our trauma and lived experience, we are victim survivors who live each day advocating for family safety and that in itself is something worth celebrating.'
