Skills Innovative Training Enterprises (SITE) disability services

We said right at the start, this is an opportunity. The more we found out about the NDIS, the easier it became.

- Kerrie Lynch, SITE General Manager.

SITE is a community-based, not-for-profit disability services organisation that has been operating in the Wodonga area for the past 28 years.

The organisation provides centre-based and community-based support for groups and individuals, along with a short term accommodation home (respite) and Support Coordination, and is a registered NDIS provider.

Around 18 months ago, SITE employed a readiness consultant to help them prepare for the rollout of the NDIS.

The consultant led the development of an NDIS readiness plan which has been instrumental in helping the organisation prepare for the new scheme.

SITE then brought in professionals to help them understand the NDIS, and also conducted information sessions with their Board as well as family members and staff.

The organisation also started having conversations with people with disability and identifying their goals as part of the NDIS pre-planning process.

SITE General Manager Kerrie Lynch is looking forward to the opportunities the NDIS will present.

She expects to see some growth in SITE services as the NDIS will give people greater choice to try out different service providers, and there will also be a lot of people accessing services for the first time.
