Tender process

In February 2018 the government launched a tender process to transfer disability accommodation (Supported Independent Living or SIL) and respite (Short Term Accommodation and Assistance or STAA) services to non-government providers, which closed in April 2018.

The providers that took part in the tender were shortlisted through the EOI process. They were assessed against strict criteria developed in collaboration with people with disability, families and staff. The evaluation focused on high-quality care, safety and choice, as well as strong management and a positive workplace culture for staff.

Family forums

We held a series of forums through February and March 2018 to ensure people with disability and families had the information they needed about the tender process, and the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback about what is important to them.
