Wallace and Gromit and Friends: The Magic of Aardman16 October 2017
Wallace and Gromit and their charming friends will continue their starring role at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image throughout summer, with the extension of the smash-hit exhibition.
Showcasing the claymation creations of Aardman Animations, Wallace and Gromit and Friends: The Magic of Aardman has been a hit with audiences of all ages since opening in June and will now run until 29 January, 2018.
The exhibition premiered at ACMI as part of this year’s Melbourne Winter Masterpieces exhibition series and showcases the claymation creations of Aardman Animations.
It goes behind the scenes of the four-time Oscar-winning studio with a bounty of 350 objects including original artworks, concept drawings, storyboards, puppets and sets.
Highlights include Wallace’s Cracking Contraptions and Gromit’s famous vegetable garden, Shaun the Sheep sets, the flying machine from Chicken Run, and the five metre tall ship from The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
Within the exhibition is a special activity space, The Studio, where visitors can get creative, building and animating their own clay characters inspired by the work of Aardman.
During the extended season, audiences can also expect special events, screenings, interactive workshops and the education programs for which ACMI is renowned.
Wallace and Gromit and Friends: The Magic of Aardman is curated by Art Ludique-Le Musée of Paris in collaboration with the Aardman Animations team.
