 Wear it Purple Day

Wear it Purple day aims to foster safe and accepting environments for young people who identify as LGBTI or live within rainbow families.

The youth led initiative was founded in Australia in 2010 in response to global stories on the effects of bullying and harassment towards young people and is now an international awareness day.

The Australian Human Rights Commission reports that a large number of LGBTI people hide their sexuality or gender at work for fear of exclusion and stigma. That number increases for young people aged 16 to 24 years.

Research shows that a workplace that embraces diversity in all its forms is more innovative and have employees who are more engaged.
