Performance Standards and evidence guidelines

Registered agencies must comply with Performance Standards and other requirements set out in the Housing Act 1983 (Vic). The evidence guidelines describe how a registered agency demonstrates its compliance with Performance Standards.

Performance Standards

The Performance Standards represent the standard of operation required of registered housing agencies while registered under the provisions of the Housing Act 1983 (Vic)External Link (the Act).

Registered agencies should note that compliance with Performance Standards, and indicators that apply within them, is mandatory. It is the responsibility of the registered agency to provide, when requested, supporting evidence to show standards have been met.

The current Performance Standards were approved by the Victorian Assistant Treasurer and took effect from 1 July 2014.

Evidence guidelines

The evidence guidelines describe the minimum documentation required by a registered agency to demonstrate compliance with Performance Standards to the Housing Registrar.

Registered agencies applying for registration are expected to provide sufficient evidence to demonstrate their capacity to meet Performance Standards.

The evidence guidelines are not exhaustive and the registered agency may use additional business documentation to demonstrate compliance. If requested, the registered agency must provide supporting evidence to show that Performance Standards have been met.

Registered agencies are required to provide evidence where there have been changes or revision of policies and procedures as part of ongoing regulation.
