Supply chain review

The Commissioner for Better Regulation is reviewing supply chain issues facing Victoria's building and construction industries.

The Minister for Regulatory Reform, the Hon Danny Pearson MP, has requested that the Commissioner for Better Regulation, Anna Cronin, undertake a review of supply chain issues facing the Victorian building and construction industries.

Industry and other stakeholders have raised the limitations being imposed on them by the supply chain challenges and that is why the Commissioner has been asked to report to the Minister for Regulatory Reform and Minister for Planning by the end of September 2021. The report will identify issues and their drivers in construction supply chains (especially for timber) and recommend ways for the Victorian Government to address them. It will have a particular focus on regulatory barriers, and on issues affecting small- to medium-sized builders.

Better Regulation Victoria is currently consulting with key stakeholders, including the construction industry, suppliers, unions and Commonwealth and State Government agencies, on these issues.
