Topics and tags

Lists and describes topics and tags used to categorise content pages, news and events.

All pages (nodes) in the CMS have some mandatory and some optional fields to tag the content. These tags help:

  • filter content in search and collection components
  • group content for analytics and reporting

The topics and tags lists are based on user research and can only be added to or edited by the SDP content team.

Using tags on the website

Tags help users filter and browse content that is relevant to their interests.

Show tags on pages

When the 'Show topic term and tags' checkbox is ticked on a page, they will display at the bottom of that published page.

Clicking on a topic or tag link will take the user to a search page showing all content tagged that topic or tag. (You can try this by clicking on the topic tag 'Governance' or audience tag 'Government' at the bottom of this page.)

Show tags on cards

When the 'Show supplemental info' checkbox is ticket on a Promotion or Navigation card, the topic will be displayed as well as the content type if it is grant, event or news.

Each time a new page is created, you have to choose one topic for the page.
