New entrant training must be completed prior to applying for a licence. This training covers:
- the legislative environment for liquor licensees
- understanding liquor licences
- best practice in managing licensed premises.
Restricted club or renewable limited club applicants may complete, in place of new entrant training, club seminar provided by Good Sports. Join Good Sports(opens in a new window) to find out about upcoming training.
BYO permit and pre-retail licence applications do not require completion of new entrant training.
The list below identifies who needs to complete new entrant training if applying for a licence as:
- individuals
- partnerships – all partners
- company (body corporate) – at least one director
- club – at least one committee member
- association – at least one committee member
Additionally, the following applicants also need to complete the training:
- a nominee on a licence
- a person subletting any part of the licensed premises or wanting to carry on supplying liquor on the licensed premises, in addition to the licensee.
