Abiola Akinbiyi is a visionary leader, mentor, and accomplished healthcare professional. She has over 20 years of experience spanning healthcare, business, and community advocacy.

She is passionate about equity and inclusion. She is a tireless advocate for culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, especially migrant and refugee women.

She is the founder of Changepreneurs Inc., a social impact organisation dedicated to mentoring African Australian youth and women from CALD backgrounds.

She has empowered many young women to achieve educational, leadership and professional success. She has transformed informal mentorship into structured leadership and empowerment programs. This has supported many young women to rise, lead, and thrive, shaping their own futures to make a positive impact.

Abiola has university qualifications in mathematics, nursing, gerontology, mental health, and IT. She brings deep expertise in aged care, clinical education, and culturally responsive practice. She is respected for championing health equity, quality care, and inclusive service delivery.

Abiola believes in service above self. She is committed to volunteer work with multicultural, faith-based, grassroots and women-led organisations.

Abiola’s contributions have been recognised with multiple awards, including:

  • Spirit of Victoria University Alumni Award (2021)
  • Rotary Paul Harris Fellow
  • Social Justice Award (2025) by the Centre for Migrant and Refugee Health
  • Innovator of the Year award by AfroAus Women in Business.

Abiola is a Rotarian and former Victorian Multicultural Commissioner. She was elected Chairperson of the Ethnic Communities Council of Victoria, the first African and the first African woman in 50 years to hold this position.

She continues to work towards systemic change through her volunteering and board member roles with:

  • the African Women's and Families Network
  • the North Western Melbourne Primary Health Network
  • Mambourin.

Abiola believes in the Ubuntu philosophy of 'I am because we are'.
