Residents in Melbourne’s north-west will soon have access to world-class training facilities.

Construction has begun on Kangan Institute’s new TAFE campus in Melton.

The new campus will have a focus on construction trades, including building, plumbing and electrical. When the campus opens in 2028, it will support around 800 students per year.

The campus will feature flexible spaces to support trades training, including:

  • workshops for construction
  • gas fitting
  • welding
  • refrigeration
  • plumbing.

There will also be an emerging technologies lab and a cybersecurity simulation space.

Kangan Institute has contracted Hutchinson Builders to build the campus. Hutchinson Builders has a strong track record of delivering quality construction for learning facilities. It was designed by leading design firm Architectus, with input from the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation.

While the new campus is being built, Kangan Institute will offer a range of TAFE courses in Melton. The courses will be delivered from Western Business Accelerator and Centre for Excellence.

The Victorian Government has invested $55 million in the new campus. It will help meet demand for skilled workers to build our state's homes and infrastructure.
