Produce multimedia information about the family violence intervention order process

The Magistrates' Court is working to make courts safer and less traumatic for victim survivors by developing innovative approaches to improve the court experience. The Magistrates' Court has undertaken an extensive service design process to improve access to information online and within the court.

Our work on this recommendation includes:

• undertaking consultation with key stakeholders
• undertaking appropriate service design
• developing multimedia information

The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria’s family violence website has been redeveloped to include a range of written and video content explaining the intervention order process in plain English.

The content of the website was also reviewed, updated and translated to ensure that information is easily accessible to all members of the community.

The Magistrates’ Court of Victoria completed installing multimedia devices in eligible court waiting areas across the state that display information about family violence intervention orders in a manner that is easy to read and understand.

The information provided on the screens is relevant for both applicants and respondents and contain content specific to each court location. The information is designed to help court users feel safer and more empowered by the court process.
