Victoria Police actively seek access to forensic medical examinations in family violence matters from the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine.
Timely access to health and medical services following experiences of violence is essential. As part of our approach, Victoria Police will work with partner agencies to ensure expanded access to forensic medical examinations for family violence matters.
Victoria Police has a contract with the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) for the delivery of forensic medical examination services for serious assault and sexual assaults for adults and children. Family violence falls within the scope of serious assault.
