Linda Thompson

Linda Thompson is an award-winning artistic director, producer, stage director and soprano. Linda founded the Australian Contemporary Opera Company in 2009 after a successful career as a principal operatic soprano with Australian flagship companies.

Described by eminent futurist and author Dr Peter Ellyard as “an entrepreneur for the 21st century”, Linda has devoted more than 30 years to leadership and development in the opera sector. In 2020, when COVID shut down the live performance sector, Linda was the first to pivot to online delivery of a ten-day international opera festival, winning a Green Room Award for programming.

With unique vision and knowledge of global trends, Linda is opening doors to digital expansion in opera, particularly in attracting younger audiences with greater representation, contemporary social and cultural issues, and her commitment to equality and diversity, on stage and off.
