In Victoria, we use both fixed and mobile road safety cameras to detect speed and deter speeding.
These road safety cameras are placed where they can prevent crashes, protect road users, and encourage safer driving decisions.
Fixed road safety cameras stay in one approved location.
Mobile road safety cameras move from location to location, so you can be caught anywhere, anytime. For an infringement to be issued, there are strict standards for evidence.
All offence images and data undergo multiple independent reviews by trained officers.
If they agree an offence has occurred, the matter is referred to Victoria Police who conduct their own review before deciding whether or not to issue an infringement.
