Regulatory reform Conference

We're in a changing world, so reform is a fact of life. And if you're not thinking about how things are changing, emerging issues and risks, and how we might need to reform regulatory framework systems and how we do things as a regulator, then you're going to get caught behind, and you're not going to be serving the community well. My favorite session today so far has been the discussion about technology. And in our discussion group, we talked about AI, how that is impacting us on the government side, and how it's also being used by the private sector and the members of the community that we interact with, and how that's going to develop over the next couple of years. I really enjoyed the systems thinking session at the beginning. We work with so many different regulators, and it's a core issue for us how to navigate that. So unpacking that was really interesting. It's so important to collaborate as a group. We all have commonalities. So I think to share the learnings, the mistakes, all the really good stories, I think fundamentally would be a great outcome. It's important to sometimes take that step back from the day-to-day and be able to make those connections with our fellow regulators. There's a lot that we can learn from each other, and I think these kind of forums really facilitate that. It forces you into that space of actually talking to some of your co-regulators and gives you the headspace and the reminder and the time to actually do that. So the networking element is hugely important and valuable.
