Pathways into teaching - Year 12 leaver

Teaching is a career brimming with opportunity and reward, and with recent investment in the industry, there has never been a better time to become a teacher.

If you are finishing or have just completed Year 12, you can apply for entry into an undergraduate teaching degree.

With a teaching degree you can become a secondary school teacher, a primary school teacher, or both. Some degrees also provide you with an early childhood teacher qualification.

To apply for an undergraduate school teaching degree, you will need an ATAR of at least 70*, and also pass the personal attributes test of your chosen teaching degree provider.

Sometimes you might not meet the requirements for direct entry into a teaching degree, and that's ok! There are alternative pathways you can look into.

These pathway programs will help you develop the knowledge and skills required for entry. Once you complete a pathway program, you can then enter a teaching degree.
