About the program

The Victorian Government has committed a further $5.3 million for the Multicultural Seniors Support Program for the 2026-28 financial years.

Funding supports activities that reduce isolation and foster community connections. Funding can be used for:

social and cultural activities
improving seniors’ digital accessibility and literacy
providing practical support
purchasing essential equipment and resources
running costs.

Organisations who receive funding through the program will continue to receive Public Liability Insurance and Group Personal Accident Insurance.

Funding

Grants will be provided as direct funding offers to eligible multicultural seniors' organisations who were awarded funding as part of the 2025-26 Multicultural Seniors Support Program.

Eligible multicultural seniors’ organisations who were not awarded funding as part of the 2025-26 Multicultural Seniors Support Program are still welcome to register their interest.

It is important to note:

Grants of $2,000 will be provided to eligible organisations. Further information will be provided in late July 2026.
Organisations must not have any overdue milestones for any other grants offered by the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Multicultural and Multifaith Victoria portfolio.

Guidelines

To be eligible, a group must:
- be a multicultural seniors’ group with a main purpose to support seniors from multicultural backgrounds
- meet at least once per month in person or virtually have at least 50% of members over 60 years old
- have at least 20 members if based in metropolitan Melbourne or 15 members if based in regional Victoria or be a part of a new and emerging community. New and emerging communities are migrants and refugees that have recently arrived in Australia and may need additional support in the settlement process.
In addition, groups must also:
- be a not-for-profit organisation
- have a current Australian Business Number (ABN)
- be an Incorporated Association, a Company Limited by Guarantee or similar type of organisation
- provide at least two active email addresses
- have met the terms and conditions of any previous grants from the Multicultural Affairs portfolio
- not have any overdue reports.
Funded organisations will be required to enter into an agreement with the Victorian Government. This agreement outlines the terms and conditions of the grant, including the use of funds, and reporting requirements.
Organisations that are offered funding will have up to 90 days to accept the offer. If an organisation does not accept a grant offer during this period, the grant offer may be cancelled. Payments will be released once agreements are signed and there are no outstanding final reports.
