Honours and awards

Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to a range of charitable organisations in Victoria through governance, fundraising and philanthropic contributions.


For more than 30 years, Paul Wheelton AM has led one of Australia’s largest Budget Rent-a-Car franchise groups, The Wheelton Group. With the knowledge and resources that he has built, Paul is an avid philanthropist and spends much of his time working in the community not-for-profit sector.

Paul occupies a swathe of leadership positions in charity and not-for-profit organisations including Life Education Australia Foundation, Blue Ribbon Day and the Order of Australia Association. He is a founding board member of the Bali Children Foundation which has helped to rebuild several orphanages and provides an educational pathway for disadvantaged Balinese children. Paul is also a member of the Ministerial Advisory Council for Volunteers, capital campaign chairman for Guide Dogs Victoria.

Paul tries to balance his busy life by supporting his beloved Hawthorn Football Club, walking and travelling to different places around the world. His travels always remind him that he lives in the best country in the world with the advantages that we have in freedom, culture, climate, sport, art and people.
