About Pick My Park

As communities grow, parks and open spaces become increasingly important. Pick My Park is a $30 million program that will improve access to quality parks and open spaces for growing communities.

Grants are available in 2 categories:

  • park upgrades: improving or revitalising existing parks
  • new parks: transforming underused land into new green spaces.

Round 1 – successful projects

Round 1 of Pick My Park invested $17.8 million in park projects across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Funding supported projects in and around 60 new Activity Centres, 15 Priority Precincts—including Suburban Rail Loop precincts—and established areas of Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. This investment is helping to deliver 14 new parks and 83 park upgrades, improving access to open space where it’s needed most.

Round 2 – Voting

In Round 2 of Pick My Park, eligible areas were extended to include the whole of Melbourne, plus the established areas of Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong. Round 2 applications closed in April 2026 and we received over 140 applications for new and upgraded parks. All applications have been assessed against the Program Guidelines, with all eligible, quality projects proceeding to the voting phase.

Voting is now open until 3 August 2026, you can view the proposed park projects on Engage Victoria and vote for your 3 favourite park projects.

To take part, you must be a Victorian resident aged over 16.

Voting will be grouped by regions of Melbourne. There are 5 regions across Melbourne to choose from: Eastern, Inner Melbourne, Northern, Southern and Western.

To vote, go into your chosen region and select your 3 favourite park projects. Voters can also choose to vote for parks in other regions.

Through voting, the community gets to decide which projects receive funding. Projects with the most votes in each region will be funded.

Regional projects

Five eligible regional projects have been awarded funding under Round 2, in addition to the 23 regional projects funded in Round 1. This funding brings the total Pick My Park investment in Ballarat, Bendigo and Geelong to over $3.9 million.
