Victoria Road Crash data
We publish Victoria’s road crash data on Transport Victoria Open Data Portal(opens in a new window) and Victorian Government Open Data Portal(opens in a new window) — giving easy access to a wide range of Victorian transport datasets, available to everyone who wants it.
The data provides users with information about Victorian fatal and injury road crashes based on time, location, conditions, crash type, road user type and other relevant attributes.
Information is updated monthly and has a 7-month lag in order to allow time for reports to be completed and data to be verified before public release. .

Road Crash Information System
Road Crash Information System is a database maintained by DTP. It’s based on crash reports compiled by Victoria Police and injury information forwarded by the Transport Accident Commission.
We use this data to produce our resources on this webpage — making it easier for all users to access the information they need.
Restricted Resources
Access to Road Crash Information System is restricted due to the sensitive nature of the data. It’s available to state and local government road asset managers.
Road Crash Information System provides tools for analysing road crashes in Victoria. This platform allows local government-based road safety practitioners to better understand some of the key issues about road crashes and to tailor road safety initiatives for local communities.
Road asset managers who need access to this database can apply by completing the form below and email - crashstats_support@roads.vic.gov.au.
