VPS Women of Colour Network

The Victorian Public Service (VPS) Women of Colour (WoC) Network is a staff led collective run by and for self-identifying WoC across the VPS.

Mission statement

The Victorian Public Service (VPS) Women of Colour (WoC) Network is a staff-led collective run by and for self-identifying WoC across the VPS.

We strive to create a safe and inclusive space that allows us to:

  • contribute our policy, community and lived experience to inform the development of policies and programs that better meet the needs of communities
  • advocate for our professional and personal development
  • improve diversity and inclusion practices across the VPS including through recruitment, retention and progression of diverse talents.

About the Women of Colour Network

The VPS WoCN was established in January 2019 by a group of passionate women in Department of Premier and Cabinet's (DPC) Multicultural Affairs and Social Cohesion Division.

It is our vision that in due course, it is expected that a People of Colour (PoC) Network will be established, within which the WoC Network will form one section.

The WoCN is championed by Brigid Monagle, Deputy Secretary, Fairer Victoria, DPC.

How can I get involved?

The network is currently open to any staff member in the VPS who identifies as a WoC or with WoC issues. There are different ways to be involved including attending events or joining one of our portfolio working groups.

You can also sign up to be a member or ally and subscribe to our newsletter to stay up to date with WoCN news and find out how you can take part on this journey with us.
