Williamson Road temporary road closure - September 2023

The Victorian Government is building a new tram maintenance and stabling facility for Melbourne’s new next-generation G Class trams on part of the 61-71 Hampstead Road site in Maidstone. The accessible, comfortable and energy-efficient trams will start rolling out locally in the west on routes 57, 59 and 82 from 2025.

What we’re doing

We’ll be moving a building along Williamson Road using a crane on Tuesday 26 September.

Where and when we’ll be working

We’ll be working on Williamson Road on Tuesday 26 September from 8am to 5pm.

This work will be dependent on the weather and this date may change. We will keep local residents informed about any date changes and you can also sign up to SMS updates by texting MAIDSTONE to 0428 581 917 so we can keep you informed of any changes.

Changes to the way you travel

  • Williamson Road will be closed from Central Park Avenue to Blair Street while we complete these works
  • Temporary impacts are shown in the map on the next page. For your safety, please follow reduced speed limits, detour signage and direction from the traffic controllers.
