Yvonne Hong

Yvonne Hong is driven by empathy and a deep sense of responsibility.

In 2015, she was volunteering in animal rescue and at a local soup kitchen. She began to think deeply about people experiencing homelessness who have animals. She realised there was a glaring gap in support and a fundamental need was being overlooked.

Yvonne was determined to change this, and founded Pets Of The Homeless (POTH). It has a simple but powerful mission: to keep vulnerable people and their beloved companions together by ensuring access to essential pet care.

For the first four years, POTH operated out of Yvonne’s home and garage. Then it moved into a warehouse in Cheltenham, where she established Victoria’s first dedicated Pet Food Bank.

What began as one person’s commitment to compassion has grown into a vital safety net for people doing it tough. POTH provides pet food, vet care, and safe shelter to keep best friends together when they’re needed most.
