A message from the Chairperson, Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board

The Adult, Community and Further Education (ACFE) Board is excited to announce that nominations are now open for the 2026 Learn Local Awards. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the awards, a significant milestone celebrating two decades of recognising the outstanding contributions of the Learn Local sector. These awards honour the transformative power of adult community education in changing lives, strengthening communities, and boosting local economies across Victoria.

Do you know a person, program, or partnership within the Learn Local sector that deserves to be celebrated? Whether it’s a student achieving extraordinary outcomes, a dedicated educator or colleague, or a program making a positive difference in the community, now is the time to make sure their efforts are acknowledged and celebrated.

The Learn Local Awards highlight the significant role that Learn Locals play in fostering innovation and transforming lives. Nominating someone not only puts their stories in the spotlight but also inspires others by showcasing the meaningful impact of education in our communities.

Finalists and winners receive generous prizes: individual winners are awarded $5,000, program winners receive $10,000, and all remaining finalists in each category are awarded $1,000.

To make the nomination process straightforward, you can submit your entry as either a short video or a written nomination. Free assistance is also available to help craft your submission, with professional writing support available by emailing your draft (in Word format) to learnlocal@djsir.vic.gov.au

As we celebrate 20 years of recognising excellence in the Learn Local sector, this is your chance to be part of this landmark year and showcase the achievements of those who have made a difference. Don’t miss this opportunity—nominate today and help us tell their inspiring stories!
