About the scholarship
The Victorian Government is offering a scholarship to eligible students who are accepted into the new Profession Ready Interpreter and Translator course at RMIT University in 2027 to study interpreting and translating in one of the following languages:
- Amharic
- Burmese
- Chin languages
- Dari
- Dinka
- Filipino/Tagalog
- Hazaragi
- Hindi
- Karen
- Kayah/Karenni
- Macedonian
- Oromo
- Pashto
- Sinhalese
- Somali
- Swahili
- Other new and emerging community languages upon application.
Profession Ready Interpreter and Translator course
The Profession Ready Interpreter and Translator course is a new year-long introductory course for people wanting to gain solid foundational and professional skills in interpreting, translating and industry knowledge.
The course offers:
- Theoretical and skills development
- Certification test preparation
- Industry engagement through practicum, site visits and mentoring.
The course will be delivered through a mix of online modules and in-person workshops.
Scholarship amount
Up to $3,500 will be awarded as a scholarship to cover the program fees in-full for the Profession Ready Interpreter and Translator course.
Scholarships will be paid directly to RMIT University on behalf of the student.
