The history of Shelbourne State School
1868
Shelbourne opened as a common school in 1868. The first head teacher was Thomas Sampson.
There were 22 students enrolled. The average number of students going to school in the first year was 17.
Classes were held in a brick schoolhouse. The post office was attached to the school.
The school was known locally as Shelbourne West.
1870s
The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.
1950
Shelbourne State School closed in 1950.
