The history of Invermay Primary School

  • 1867

    Invermay opened as a common school in 1867. The school served the local farming community. The original school building was ‘weatherboard with an iron roof and few windows'.

  • 1870s

    The school became a state school at some stage between 1873 and 1878.

  • 1915

    52 students were enrolled in 1915.

  • 1965

    A new one-room building was opened in 1965.

  • 1968

    There were 16 students enrolled in 1968.

  • 1970

    The school was renamed Invermay Primary School in 1970.

  • 2022

    Invermay Primary School is still in operation.
